Why Lainey????

Last night we once again went up Millcreek Canyon for dinner and family home evening. We invited some friends and the Kingsleys joined us. We had an awesome dutch oven dinner of chicken and rice and raspberry cobbler.

The kids had a very fun time playing and were eagerly collecting firewood so we could roast some marshmallows. The kids were playing and having fun when I heard Lainey start to cry, I saw that she was walking towards us but not breathing (as my children like to do). I called to Lance to tell her she was not breathing because I knew he could get to her faster. I yelled to Lainey stop walking, as she was headed for a short but steep hill. Lance got to her just as she fell over backwards just like a tree. What was wrong you ask?? She had walked into a tree and got a very nice scrape and 3 gauges in her cheek for her troubles.

We then decided to clean up camp and head home. Lainey seemed just as upset about leaving before family home evening and marshmallows than being hurt.

She had some dirt and bark in the gauges that needed to be cleaned out and we didn't have anything up there to do it with. When we got home we showed to to Brandie my wonderful next door neighbor and friend who also works as a nurse. She gave us some ideas about how to get it cleaned out. Thanks Brandie!!! After a blessing to calm her down and some Ibuprofen she slept all night.
Before Lainey's accident the kids also had a great time wading in the creek.

Gardner Village

The girls and I got together with some friends from Settlers Point, the apartment complex we lived in before we built our house. We started off by waiting for the petting zoo to open, in the mean time the kids got reaquainted. We then went into the petting zoo for a little bit.

While in the petting zoo Lilly was trying to examine a goose a little more closely. When she got a little to close the goose reached through and bit her nose. What I would give to have caught that on video.
The Goose that got Lilly's nose

We then went and tried to feed the ducks. There were only 2 ducks in the water and they didn't really seem interested in the bread we were trying to feed them. I was so paranoid about the girls falling in the water I didn't take any pictures.

We then decided to go over to Archibalds for lunch. A little scary.

I must say my kids did great, they have never behaved so well in any restaurant. They also ate all their food!

We had a wonderful time even though it was really hot and my feet got really really swollen!!

Memory Lane

I found this game on Larry and Megan's blog, and decided it would be fun to do. Hopefully EVERYONE who reads my blog will participate, because it will be really fun that way!
Here are the directions:
1. Add a comment on my blog of a memory or two that you and I had together or that you had with Lance (or both). It can be anything fun that you remember. It doesn't matter if you knew us a little or a lot- just put any memories you have.
2. Next, re-post these instructions on your blog. If you don't want to play on your blog, or if you don't have a blog, I'll leave my memory of you (or Lance's memory of you) in my comments. Try to keep it going on your blogs with your friends. It can even be kind of a contest to see who can come up with the funniest memories or who has the most memories. Have fun and Happy Memories!

The Girls Room is almost Done!

We have been so busy today. We did a lot of painting. Including the nursery which we painted PINK, just kidding we painted it YELLOW. We got the peg boards and shelves up in the girls room and I think it looks so cute. Lance did a great job making the peg boards and the shelves. You cant see it but he even put decorative edges on them. Here are some pics. We are still waiting for Lilly's bed set to arrive, it was suppose to come on Friday but it still isn't here, and on the fedex tracking the ETA is now blank. Very irritating. Oh well. We will post more pictures when it comes of the whole bedroom finished!!

Lainey was upset when we put the doll that my friend got Lilly in Europe on Lilly's shelf, so she insisted that we put her Barbie on her shelf.

Hot Dogs and Friends

See those Dirty Faces
Friday we headed up Millcreek canyon again with hopes of better luck. This time we were joined by our friends the Combs. We had a great time roasting hot dogs and just sitting back while the kids played around us getting extremely dirty. When we changed the girls into their PJ's before we left Lainey had dirt in her underwear (sorry Lainey).
Lance was the one with the camera, and the only shot of me was terrible so you get the Combs.

Kids like to make Liars out of us!

So within moments of the last post about Lilly, she has decided that she can walk on it. She is still limping slightly but is now putting weight on it. Hurray for Lilly

Whats wrong with Lilly???

On Tuesday night I had the scouts over to teach them how to use Dutch ovens. We made chicken and rice, and raspberry cobbler. Both turned out amazing. Anyway back to Lilly. She was wandering around just fine when all the sudden she said her knee hurt and wouldn't let me put her down. If I did she wouldn't walk she would only crawl. Not really sure if she was really hurt we put her to bed. She slept all night no problem. The next morning she wouldn't get out of bed unless I carried her. I thought okay something must be wrong. I debated off and on all morning to take her to the Instacare or to the hospital. I decided to call our doctors office and see what they thought. They said to bring her in there. The doctor examined her and said I have no idea. Because she would crawl and walk on her knees but wouldn't put weight on her left leg. She said there may be a fracture but with no swelling or tenderness when we pushed and pulled and squeezed her leg, she thought that it wasn't broken. We decided to do x-rays anyway so off to IMC we went. They did the x-rays and said we will send the films to your pediatritions office. So we called them to see what to do next. They said when they had read the films they would call us. So we waited and waited, and then they called and said there was no breaks. So we still have no idea what is wrong with Lilly's leg, but she still won't walk on it!! I just hope that it is nothing really serious!

Right after I typed this up, I videoed Lilly and did get her to walk for me but you can see her limp. Poor Girl!!

FRUSTRATION!!!

So after my last doctors appointment I was really confused. Thinking that I was 35 1/2 weeks pregnant, I expected to be checked and to have the strep b test done. At the appointment the doctor said I'll see you in 2 weeks and we will check you then. This really confused me, so I'm thinking do I have my due date wrong?? When I asked him if he would induce me on August 8 his response was "why would you want to wait that long?" Thus furthering my thoughts that my due date was August 1.
So I called today to find out what was going on, just for some peace of mind, and this is what I was told. No your due date isn't August 1 it is AUGUST 13th. I'm really frustrated!! I know that it really doesn't change anything, but the thought of being pregnant for 2 more weeks into the summer is very hard. So now that I have vented and trying to hold back the tears, I will carry on doing as I have been doing, and continuing to swell to MAMMOTH PROPORTIONS!!!

It's finally done!!!

The bunk beds for the girls are finally done. Our original goal was to have me make them for Christmas, but since Cari got put on bed rest for the week before Christmas break I was only able to make the bottom one. I was finally able to finish the top bunk this last week while being off work. I actually finished them last week, but we had to wait 2 full days for the protective finish to dry - it was agonizing for all of us.
The girls were so excited they just couldn't stop playing on them. They almost drove me crazy asking when they could play on it as I put it together in their room.

Lilly's matching bed set is on way, but didn't make it in time oh well she doesn't mind at all. She's just excited for her "big girl bed."

The girls were so excited about their beds they actually got ready for bed and were in bed before we usually even start our night time routine. We didn't complain. :-)

Of course, no project is complete with out work in progress pictures. The girls wanted to help all the time. They actually did a pretty good job.

This was my first bed from scratch. It was a lot of fun. Now on to the next project.... :-)

Best Flip Flops EVER!!!!

So I have always had a hard time with flip flops, not because I don't like them, but because I have a hard time finding ones that I like that are comfortable. I knew there were some out there but they seem to avoid me, probably because I wasn't willing to spend more than 5 Dollars on a pair. Friday while at my mom's I slipped hers on to run out to the car and I was amazed!! They felt good on my feet! Even though they were molded to my moms! They came from VANS. My little brother Tyler works there and has been trying to get me to buy shoes from him for forever. We went on Saturday and got me a pair. They were having a sale of buy one pair get the second 1/2 off, plus I get 50% off because my brother works there!! So Lance got a pair too. I tried his on as well and his are really comfy to! To sum it all up, BEST FLIP FLOPS EVER!!!!!!

I think Daddy is ready to go back to work!!

Lilly decided that she needed to do some hair. First she approached me, but I told her my hair was already done and that she needed to do Daddy's. At first Lance refused but with encouragement from me he said okay. Lilly was delighted and had the squirt bottle ready. Every time she would squirt Lance would flinch. I decided that it needed to be documented.

After 2 or 3 squirts Lance decided she was done with the water, and took it away. She was so cute while she was coming his hair saying, "Squirt, Squirt, Squirt, Comb, Comb, Comb" over and over again. She then decided that she needed the squirt bottle back and was trying unsuccessfully to reason with her daddy to give it back. I laughed really hard!!
